The Faceshop Chia Seed Cleansing Foam

This year I have been having rather bad breakouts which resulted in me spending much more on skincare than usual. At the peak of my breakouts and skin problems in April this year, I decided to try out The Faceshop products after Xin recommended them to me.

The perk was that April is my birthday month and as this is the first time I’m joining Faceshop as a member, I got both birthday package and membership gifts from them which made my purchases doubly worth it, I suppose.

The Faceshop Chia Seed Cleansing Foam

The Chia Seed Cleansing Foam was recommended to me by the retail assistant in the shop, and to be honest my advice is always take the recommendations with like a tablespoonful of salt because you know your skin conditions best. Unless you see a professional dermatologist, of course. Nonetheless I bought this to give it a try, because apparently Chia seed is supposed to help with oil control and I have rather oily skin – very much like a peanut.

The scent of the cleansing is a little cloyingly sweet and smell wise I would definitely prefer something milder like Acnes Medicated, but after a while you will get use to the sweet scent. On the bright side, the sweet smell fades fast after washing, so I don’t have to worry about having a headache from the invasion of the senses.

As you can see from the picture above, they describe it as a “gentle scrub” which I wouldn’t completely agree with. Foremost, for a scrub I usually have the expectation of many microbeads or those tiny little flecks things that cleanse the skin. There is no microbeads in this – thank god, I am not very partial to those tiny beads – but perhaps a few small, barely discernible yellow dots which I cannot figure out what it is. Chia seed grinded down into find powder? I have no idea. Not only so, I don’t think this face wash is as gentle as described since post washing, I feel a certain tautness in my skin that is not uncomfortable, but feels a little dry? Especially if your wash comes near your panda-eye area, those parts would feel particularly dry.

Nonetheless, it does a pretty good job of removing the oil from my skin and usually for many hours after I feel that my skin still feels clear and breathable with no heavy amount of oil spewing out from my pores.

Noticeably, this face wash seems to use coloring in the face wash, note the picture above mentions “Green 3” and “Blue 1” which, unless they are code names for other chemicals, seems like colorant to me. I suppose this is one thing I don’t particularly like about the face wash because coloring the face wash seems utterly redundant since they are going to be washed off in a couple of minutes and the aesthetic appeals of the product – if we even take note at all – seems absolutely trivial. Instead the colorants just gives me a squeamish feeling of having another layer of unnecessary chemicals added to my face. Perhaps for people with sensitive skin types, it will do you good to google the chemical make up of these colorings and avoid using them where you can.

Finally this is what the product looks like. Tadaa. Not particularly surprising – all face wash look more or less like this. The consistency is quite thick and add plenty of water to turn it into a rather thin not-really-there foam. Upon addition of sufficient water, it does spreads on the skin smoothly though so you just have to gently massage your face before rinsing it off.

For the price (probably under $10, can’t really remember), I suppose it is not that bad, since even a normal supermarket Facewash like Eversoft costs around this price. It is pretty value for money, but only if it suits your skin type, and in my case it works normally – not exceptionally outstanding but nothing too abysmal either. I would rate this a 6/10. ^^

Clinique x Luxola Collaboration

Sponsored Review
Recently I have been lucky enough to be given the chance to try and review Clinique’s line of products! Needless to say, I was genuinely excited as Clinique is an extremely well recognized for its skincare and cosmetic products and after this experience, I must say that the products definitely live up to their name!

Clinique Products

For Oily Skin: Moisturizing gel, clarifying lotion and liquid facial soap (left to right)

Due to my oily skin type, I was given the set of products catered specially for oily skin!

Clinique Liquid Facial Soap
Clinique’s facial soap is gentle on the skin with a mild scent. Usually I use just one pump to wash my face and it is more than sufficient to lather into foam to cleanse the face of the oil without drying out the skin. In short, it smoothly cleanses one’s face without stripping too much of the facial oil, thus leaving the skin hydrated and comfortable.

Unlike some other cleansers which may have a strong floral scent which may be a source of irritation to some, Clinique’s Facial Soap has a soft and refreshingly mild scent that is gentle to the senses.

Also, in case you are wondering, I have skin that’s prone to acne and using the facial soap so far has not caused me any outbreaks. In fact, I haven’t had any outbreaks since I started using this skincare line!

However, one must be careful not to let the soap get into one’s eye as I carelessly had, as it will cause a minty stinging sensation that is not too painful, but preferably avoided.

Clinique Clarifying Lotion
Clinique’s Clarifying Lotion has a strong alcoholic scent that disappears after drying. As a clarifying lotion, I feel that it does indeed purify the skin! Swiping a cotton pad dabbed with the clarifying lotion across one’s face instantly refreshes and soothes the skin following the cleansing.

What is even better is the fact that the lotion seems to function well as a mild makeup remover too: when I accidentally made a makeup error, I dabbed the spot with a cotton pad containing the lotion to remove the error easily without smearing the rest of my makeup. Definitely a versatile and handy lotion to have!

Clinique Moisturizing Gel
Clinique’s moisturizing gel is by far my favourite moisturizer amongst all that I have tried. And trust me, I have actually tried a broad range. The amazing thing about this moisturizer is that it leaves the skin silky smooth and matte upon drying, with no hint of oiliness at all even in the many hours post application. Fair enough, I do see my nose getting shiny with time, but for me, my skin tends to become oily extremely easily and I doubt it would be fair to blame it on the moisturizer!

Instead, I am thoroughly impressed by how the moisturizing gel is able to leave my face matte but still retaining its healthy glow (without the actual oily shine) and it is one of my go-to base products to use before make-up application to prep my skin. 10/10 for this moisturiser, I won’t hesitate to purchase it when my current bottle finishes!

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula

Sponsored Review
Hey guys! After a long hiatus from blogging due to my overly hectic life, I am finally back with something really cool for you girls and guys!

Have you always known about the benefits of applying moisturizers but have simply found using them too much of a trouble? Personally, I am well aware of the skin benefits of using a good brand of moisturizer, such as having well-hydrated skin that is simultaneously better nourished! Nonetheless, being lazy as I am, I can never finish using a tub of body butter or moisturizer because it is such a chore.

Imagine having to unscrew the tub, dig out a dollop, screw back the lid and possibly having to repeat the steps again because you took out too little. Even worse, I have once contaminated my tub-form moisturizer by double-dipping my finger into it.

Naturally a better option for me was using a tube form, but when I am rushing it, I tend to squeeze out too much from the tube…until I am introduced to the amazing SPRAY moisturizers.

You read that right!

Palmer Rapid Moisture Spray Lotion (picture source)

Not only is it now easy for us to apply the spray lotion, it also comes in a variety of choices for us buyers to find the one that we truly like! Personally, I am quite spoiled for choice!

I was fortunate enough to be given the Palmer’s Rapid Moisture Spray Lotion with deep moisture function to try and review, and as an individual who is quite picky about her moisturizers, I was surprised to find myself liking the spray lotion more with each use!

Palmer’s Rapid Moisture Spray Lotion: Deep Moisture

Let us first take a look at the key ingredients list:

  1. Cocoa Butter: a rich natural moisturizer that leaves skin soft and silky, transforming even the roughest, driest areas into buttery soft skin.
  2. Vitamin E: a powerful antioxidant that helps improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks and imperfections on the skin, giving a more even and toned appearance.
  3. Shea Butter: deeply moisturizes and nourishes to leave dry soft and radiant
On top of the fact that cocoa butter is a superfood for your skin, might I also add that it is extremely good smelling? It has the scent of raw, rich chocolate which makes one smell like you just step out of a chocolate bath, without having to actually waste the chocolate, ha!
Watch the video below to find out more about cocoa butter as a lovely source of nutrients for your skin!
Okay, and the company actually came up with a rather cool dance advertisement for their product!
That aside, here are my first impressions on the product!
Foremost, convenience! What I love most about this product is the high level of convenience it has brought into my life, making the application of moisturizer that much easier and thus making me less likely to forgo the moisturizing step in my daily bath ritual! All we have to do is to hold the spray can close to the skin and press the nozzle, then you will see the moisturizer landing on your skin! That cool!
Secondly, I also love the smell! If you are worrying that the smell will be strange, then worry not! It smells absolutely wonderful. To me, the fact that the smell stays is also a plus point, because I like smelling like cocoa butter!
Finally, it is great as a moisturizer because it really does make the skin hydrated and softer upon application. Check out the before and after photos:
Before application

Applied one small spray:

Final Result:

Okay, I really did try to capture the subtle sheen that the moisturizer provides one’s skin, but we know the limitations of technology too well: I really can’t capture how much softer and more moist that my skin was! And such feeling of hydration persists long after application.

Guardian 3-Step Nose Pore Pack Review

Hey girlfriends! Today you are in for another review: the Guardian 3-Step Nose Pore Pack!

Guardian 3-Step Nose Pore Pack Review
Many of us have been troubled by black heads and white heads on our nose for as long as we can remember. The situation differs from person to person: at worst it becomes a source of embarrassment because it seems like we are being flippant in terms of personal hygiene, when that’s actually not the case!
Personally, I have tried a variety of black-head removing methods such as exfoliating wash, nose-pore strips….none of them seem to be able to get rid of black heads permanently. My nose always become really clean post treatment, but a day later, the black heads are BACK. Again.
Thus, the sight of the 3 step pore pack excited me because y’unno, three steps sounds like a very thorough cleansing procedure!
In short, the three steps include:
  • Softening blackheads
  • Removing blackheads
  • Refining Pores
Softening blackheads

This is how the mask for softening blackheads look like: it is like a facial mask, just a smaller one cut in the shape for nose.

I can’t tell if it really softens my blackheads, I mean my whole nose feel damp, but logically water would do the same job right? In a way, my nose feels fresh, but I can’t really tell if that is supposed to be the point.
This is followed by the nose pore strip, which is just like your usual Biore Nose Pore strip, except it is pink and fancy looking.

Nose Mask

This is followed by the nose pore strip, which is just like your usual Biore Nose Pore strip, except it is pink and fancy looking.

Step 2 Black head remover strip

Remember to wet your nose before applying it or it won’t stick!

Nose Pore Strip

The pulling out of the nose pore strip is always a heart-wrenching process, quite literally. It feels as if the entire piece of skin on the nose is being torn from the roots, and my eyes were closing so tightly that I am sure more wrinkles have formed in that brief few minutes.
Blackhead strip, post use.
In a way, the yucky bits in my nose are mostly unplugged from my pores, at the price of removing much of my skin as well! It was a painful procedure, much more than expected since I presumed that because I used the blackhead softener in step one, it should be less painful.
But nope. Very painful it was.
Refining pores
Perhaps this is the reason why they need a step three: to help you get over the throbbing pain of yanking out the nose epidermal layer, and to recover from the trauma of unintentional skin removal.
Placing the cooling, moist gel on my traumatized nose was like heaven after that hellish treatment. In a way, I can see why they include such a step because I feel that it does aid in the recovering of my pores, even if they are not really refined, just soothed.
Gel patch for refining pores

I am ambivalent towards the overall usefulness of the product, since it does remove the blackheads/ whiteheads, albeit not in the long run. I will probably rate this a 3/5, as I like the gel patch at the end: it is like balm to your nose after you rip the nose pore strip off. In a way, this is better than one-step pore strips like Biore’s and the likes.

However, I also feel that for a single use, this is pretty expensive at $3.50, and that was already on some kind of discount I think?

I will leave you guys to decide for yourself if you like it, and if you do try it, do leave us a comment down below to tell us if this worked well for you! 😀

Dewytree Honey Protecting Mask Sheet Review

Hey there pretties! I have blogged for the last couple of days because I was both unwell and busy, coupled with some mood swings, but now I am better and I will try to update daily!

Recently I thought I would invest some money on affordable skin care products because I am frankly worried about having breakouts, peeling skin and the likes! Hence, Dewytree’s Honey Protective Mask is one of the few that I picked up from Watsons/ Guardian to try out.

Dewytree honey protecting mask sheet

For those of you who may not be familiar with Dewytree, it is a Korean brand that contains both popular facial masks like Dewytree Honey Moist Black Mask which is literally black. I don’t actually like black mask that much yet despite its unique factor, so I just got the normal one instead!

Here’s how I find Dewytree honey protecting mask sheet to be like after a single use:

It has a nice, subtle scent of honey which is barely detectable, not unless you are actually wearing the mask. Smell-wise, I fully approve of this mask, because the smell is not strong, and is actually pretty pleasant!

The material is thicker than the silk masks like Lovemore’s Water Beauty Series than I am used to, but to my surprise it still sticks to the skin well and is able to hold the essence within the mask well enough to transfer it to my face. Whilst thick, the mask doesn’t seem to suffocate the pores on my skin, so thumbs up!

Okay, here is when I don’t actually like the mask anymore. The reason is that unlike My Scheming’s Mask that feels cooling, comfortable and almost like there is nothing on the skin, this mask is ITCHY. Yes, my friends. This mask is quite itchy, and I am not sure whether it is because my skin may be sensitive to the ingredients of the mask or the material of the mask, but I really seldom have such reactions to masks.

So you can imagine how uncomfortable it can be in that 15-20 minutes of application: scratch, prod and whimper.

Frankly, I don’t really see much of a difference to my skin. Indeed, my skin looks fuller and more moisturized (like the hydrated look), but come on, isn’t that like the very basic thing that masks are supposed to do? Even if I put bananas on my skin for 15 minutes coupled with honey, my skin looks tighter and more hydrated!

Not too disappointing, I wasn’t really expecting much from the mask anyway since it is just $2.00!

For this mask, I will rate it a 2/5. Sorry Dewytree.

It is a good choice of mask if you are looking for affordable remedies to improve your skin condition for short periods of time, or simply to hydrate dry skin! But do consider the itch factor, since most people won’t enjoy such a sensation!

Instead of Dewytree, I would strongly recommend My Scheming or Lovemore’s facial mask because my experiences with them so far have been nothing short of excellent! For those of you who are interested, feel free to check out the following posts!

Will be blogging again soon, till next post!

Mia Care Acne Patch Review

Just a day ago I was sharing a tutorial on how to create the Chinese New Year look to go with your new outfits! I was mentioning in the post that Mia Care Acne Patch would be a good patch to put over your acne in order for it to heal faster, since we all want our red little spots to disappear as fast as they can, don’t we?
Mia Care Acne Patch is available in all Guardian Stores in Singapore!
Mia Care Acne Patch for Day and Night

I bought mine at a sale from Guardian a couple of days ago, the Day and Night mixed package was being sold at $5.50, so I decided to give it a try.

Here’s how the item look on the inside. They even included an easy-to-follow instruction pamphlet inside, useful for first timer users like myself.

Mia Care Acne Patch for Day and Night

Left: 6 patches of Night Care
Right: 12 patches of Day Care

What I like about the product
It is easy to apply. Now, unlike those gel form acne cures that we have to apply with a cotton bud or clean fingers (and having to wash our hands twice in the process), this one you can just pop it on after washing your face in the morning or at night before you go to sleep. It is like a sticker for the pimple: slap it on and go.

It is almost invisible. I am saying almost because under sunlight or brighter light, it is still sort of visible but not very obvious. In a way, it helps to minimize the redness of the pimple (especially those vengefully red and swollen ones) by a fair margin. When I was using it, my mom couldn’t tell that there were anything on my face, but then again she doesn’t really look at me that much I guess!

bad skin 1

bad skin 2, yikes

You can actually put make-up over the patch. I know, that is something really cool since acne and foundation together usually equates to disaster: many foundation out there are comedogenic and do block the pores. The patch act as a veil over the skin, so you can put on make-up and concealer with ease knowing that your pimple is protected from further inflammation!

It is effective, in a way. I am saying that because it is not entirely effective, but also not completely useless. The first day I used 3 day patches in the morning on each of the pimple I had and 3 night patches when I went to sleep to replace the day ones. By the next morning, the one next to my lip has completely disappeared (it was originally small and in the midst of growing), the one on my forehead is less swollen and no longer painful, but the one on my chin is still very swollen, and if possible, it seemed worse.

Additionally, I seem to come to notice that the night patches seem to work better than the day ones, though I haven’t used them long enough to have solid proof. A gut feeling, but perhaps something worthy for consideration when you are buying on limited budget!

It does offer a protective layer, especially from touchy hands. I am not sure if you have the same habit as I do, which is to feel really tempted to touch a sore spot on my face: especially one that is on the verge of having a pimple eruption. Even worse, when the pimple is in its stage of growth, I am even more tempted to prod at it with my often unclean hands because the skin will feel so tight and uncomfortable. These actions tend to worsen my pimple, sometimes causing them to turn purple (I presume it to be infection) or just become even bigger.

Thus the acne patch will ensure that your dirty hands or environment have a less chance of coming into contact with the pimple and irritating it further.

What I don’t like about the product
It is actually pretty expensive. In just a period of 2 to 3 days, I have almost finished my entire package of acne patches and I only have 3 pimples all together. 2 of them are not even remotely close to healing despite Mia Care’s suggestion that they will be gone in 72 hours….

Mia Care Acne Patch: Day and Night

Not only so, imagine your expenses if you have say, 10 pimples (acne outbreak) on your face. Are you like going to stick a patch on each and every one of them? Not only will you need several packets of the patches, you will probably look weird. One patch is easy to overlook, 10 patches? You will look like you have a novel skin disease.

The removal procedure is actually pretty painful. I am not saying like “knife-cuttingly” painful, but it is definitely more pain than necessary, especially on a tender acne spot, the pain doubles. I also get the bad feeling that the peeling off process may damage the skin on the pimple further (or even cause dry skin to tear off, yikes) and worsen the pimple. For those of you who have tried a black-head remover patch, yes, it’s that skin-tearing type of pain. Yeowch.

3 out of 5!

It is not too bad, especially if you want to do make up despite your pimples. Okay, maybe you would want to put on make up because of the pimples. I mean, pimples are a serious ego wounder, after all.

However, if you have an acne outbreak, I would really suggest using pimple cream like Acnes Medicated which worked well for me for a while, till the cream turned kinda weird… But for an occasional pimple here and there, patch may be a good consideration!

I have also heard of Nexcare acne patch, but I haven’t tried it since a friend of mine who did says it doesn’t work…Sluggy Sophia says that the Tea Tree Acne Patch works, so you can consider that too!

Okay, I have finished my post and I hope this has been helpful to you all!

Do drop me a comment below to tell me what kind of acne remedies you have tried and if they work! Till next post, bye!

Curél Sebum Care

Sponsored Review

Did you know that sebum build-up in your skin can cause your skin to become more alkaline and lead to skin problems in the long run?

Not only so, it is also a key cause of acne and spots on the skin as the sebum can aggregate with the dirt on your skin to clog your pores, causing inflammation.

If you suffer from relatively oily skin like I do, why not consider Curel’s new Sebum care series?

Curel Sebum Care Series – Face wash, lotion and moisture gel

What we probably did not know is that oily skin and sensitive skin often comes together, and not exclusively. This makes me realize why in the past when I used certain face washes, they may feel quite rough on the skin and causes the skin to feel tender and dry out.

This is Curel’s foaming face wash!

Curel Sebum Care Foaming wash

One of the best thing about foaming face washing is of course the fact that foam is lighter and it is also more airy, thus easier for the foam molecules to gently remove the sebum build-up from your skin without being too harsh on one’s skin! This foaming wash is no different: the texture is soft, light and incredibly smooth, almost like we are holding air.

This is how the bottle looks like from the inside! I am also completely partial to the pump mechanism because it means that we can retrieve amounts of the face wash without contaminating the rest, which is a key problem for germaphobes like myself when using squeeze or scoop face washes.

One of the even better things about this face wash is how the pump allows one to dispense a suitable amount of face wash depending on how hard you press: I have come across those which dispense copious amounts regardless of how lightly you press the pump. Like, com’on! My face isn’t that big!

Information on the package!

I have to say I am really impressed with the amount of information they put on the packaging in an attempt to educate the consumers on the need to remove sebum because of the adverse effects it can have on a person’s skin.

Whilst the instruction suggests 3-4 pumps, I think that 1 pump (and sometimes I use half) is more than enough because seriously your face is not that big, and the foam gives a relatively decent coverage.

For the Foaming Facewash, I am super impressed by how well it is able to remove oil from my face and also keep my face relatively matte, and I won’t hesitate to give it a 9/10! I deducted one point because of the relatively higher price: S$19.80 for 150ml. That makes it almost 20 dollars!

Next up, we have the sebum care lotion!

Curel Sebum Care Lotion

Like the face wash, the sebum care lotion comes in a pump bottle to allow one to dispense amounts in a hassle free, (relatively) drip free manner!

I love the frosted glass look of the bottle, it looks so chic

The texture is light, moisturizing and is absorbed almost instantly upon application. It is capable of hydrating the skin for an extended period of time, and in dry, cooler weathers, your skin will stay relatively matte, whilst in hot humid and sultry days, your skin may feel a little damp after a while.

I haven’t been a huge fan of toner ever since finishing my previous one because I find it too annoying since there hasn’t been a time whereby my toner does not drop from my hand to the floor whilst I am trying to pour them out.

Such a situation won’t happen with this one!

Can you see the streak of the lotion? It has a water like consistency and is very very easy to massage into your skin:) For this, I would give it a 10/10! Careful not to press the pump too hard or it will shoot out a stream of the lotion! ^~^”

The lotion cost S$24.90, which is another slightly high price, but it can probably last you a while since only a pump is needed for each use!

Last but not least, we have the moisturizer!

Curel Sebum Care Moisture Gel
Like its predecessors, it also comes in a pump bottle…wow I am be getting really outdated because each time I open the package to see the pump bottle, I have never ceased to squeal in excitement before. Yes, my love for pump dispensers is unlimited and long lasting!
Curel Sebum Care Moisture Gel

The texture for the moisture gel is slightly heavier, which is to be expected since the product says “gel” and not lotion and stuff, but it is still relatively smooth and not suffocating as one usually expects gel to be.

In terms of hydration, it does a fairly good job, but I think the catch is that with good hydrating qualities, it seems to also speed up the oiling process of my face! Not sure if other people experience it – it could be just me and my overactive oil glands.

Whilst I love the hydrating effects of the gel, perhaps in our local weather, it would better if we wear this when we are going to stay in an air-conditioned area for long periods (because the air tends to be drier), instead of when we are going out into the heat. I feel that the gel tends to get sticky and more uncomfortable when I am sweating, but it is excellent for use in air-conditioned rooms, or in dry winter weathers overseas.

The moisture gel costs $34.90 for 120ml, and I am guessing that the higher price means that it is going to be an effective treatment for the skin! I am so going to finish my entire bottle!

For the moisture gel, I would give it a 6/10, because I am still baffled as to why it causes my face to oil more a little quickly heh xD

There we have it! The post face-wash skin treatment set!

After reading this, I am sure you would love to try out the Curel Sebum care products for yourself! Fret not, you can head over to Curel Singapore’s Facebook page to request for a sample and they will mail it to you! How simple is that! xD

Thanks for reading this blog post and I hope that you have learnt more about this product!

Take care and till next post, bye!

Sexy Look Micro Inject Mask

Sponsored Review

Sexy look Micro Inject mask

Not long ago I shared with you the Glacier masks that were incredibly thin, and to my great surprise, these Micro Inject masks are on par with the Glacier masks in terms of thinness!

Microinject mask

As you could see from the promotional poster above, the Micro Inject masks are exceedingly thin which makes adherence to skin so much easier than thicker masks.

The masks that I received to try and review are the aloe vera ones, and I like the fact that they do not have an overwhelming scent on them.

These masks are soft and gentle on the skin and non scratchy, and they fit like a second layer to the skin.

Apart from that, I also feel that it has excellent hydration effects, probably due to the better adhesion and its laudable water retention qualities that enable it to transfer most of the essence onto the skin rather than to have them left behind in the bag.

Overall, I will rate this masks a five out of five because it is comfortable, breathable and hydrating.

The Latest Technology in Japan – Double penetration effect with skin friendly natural fibre and precise ergonomic design, too! Unique hydronet helps pump up skin to look younger and healthier.”

Lovemore Water Beauty Series

Sponsored Review

I haven’t tried many facial masks in a while, and this set of Lovemore Water Beauty Series masks took me by pleasant surprise!

Lovemore Water Beauty Series

The packaging is simply adorable!

Anyways, back to the main point. As you all know, I am very particular about the smell of masks because, after all, you have to leave it on your face, close to your nose for at least 10-15 minutes, and it does not do well when the mask has an unpleasant smell, or an overly sweet scent that gives headache.

This is why I am super pleased that Lovemore Water Beauty mask has a light, slightly sweet, minty and very pleasant scent that appeals to one’s sense of smell. Hence, first round of inspection by me, passed!

The second fantastic thing about this mask is the fact that it is very extremely thin, and as a result it fits perfectly onto one’s skin, almost like a second, thinner, breathable layer that molds in perfect harmony to one’s own.

I am super sorry that I have to recycle an old picture, because for some reason I am inapt at handling my camera phone and cannot send the picture to myself properly, so please bear with the one below.

Do you see the mask? It is the thin membranous layer in between the blue sheet and the shiny plastic layer: all this to prevent the mask from tangling within itself because it is that thin.

Verdict? I LOVE IT. I mean, have you ever been tired of putting on facial masks that feels like putting on a canvas onto your face: super heavy, thick, doesn’t adhere well and peels here and then, and even worse, when you try to sit down and read a book…drip…drip, all the essence falls onto the book, damaging it?

This is exactly why thin masks are so amazing. Not only do they adhere well to the skin and not miss a spot at all, it has surprisingly good capacity to hold the essence in the mask and then transfer it to the skin, instead of having all the essence dripping like water from a faulty tap.

Not only so, it debunks the myth that thin masks cannot hold essence well, eh?

On top of it all, your skin can breathe while using the mask, and that is important because some masks do make one feel rather stuffy and suffocated.

More importantly, these masks have very good hydrating effects, and it serves to really freshen up the skin and replenish all the moisture that one might have lost throughout the day. Furthermore, I was also pleasantly amazed by how it can brighten and clear up the skin tone so much more, like it has just purified the pores of my skin. The relatively long lasting fresh feeling after usage is also part of the pros of the mask.

There are three types of masks in this series:

I am totally in love with the Glacier masks, but I think when I finish mine, I will give the others a try too!

See the information at the back? According to them, it is made of 100% pure silk, which explains why the mask is so soft and comfortable. Heavy cotton ones are less comfortable, in my opinion.

You can now purchase these wonderful masks on Secretive’s website, at a price of S$13.90 for 5 masks! I think it is a decent price, especially since the mask has wonderful hydrating effects and leaves the skin much more supple and radiant.

The best thing about the cleanser is that it foams very well and can remove makeup like bb cream and CC cream really well. Since I am a student, I don’t wear other make up apart from BB cream (partly because my sunblock expired and was thrown away) for UV protection. It is a hassle to have to use make up remover to wipe away the BB cream each time I return from home, and the yogurt cleanser offers a simple and refreshing alternative!

The interior

The smell of the cleanser is my favorite: it is the smell of genuine strawberry yogurt, and if not for the fact that it was labelled, I would have thought it was edible! The fluffy pink, the packaging, the spoon and even the whipped cream look of the cleanser all amazed me to no end: Koreans are so creative in their product packaging!

In the photo on the left, I was washing my face whilst trying to take a photo, since the sponsors suggest that the user may want to see the foaming, but the photo does not do the foam justice. Due to the lighting and also the pale color of the foam, it can’t really been seen on the picture, unless you squint at my eyebrow: there is a huge patch of white, and that’s the cleanser.

It removes oil fabulously and leaves a fresh feeling after that.

If you all are interested, it can be purchased from Guardian only in the month of April this year, so you have to hurry down if you want one!

Till next time, bye!
